Balloons over Horseshoe Bay Resort is shaping up to be a fun-filled three days (April 19-21) in Horseshoe Bay Texas, just 45-minutes west of Austin. Event organizers have confirmed nearly 20 hot air balloons including several popular Special Shape Balloons confirmed for all three glows and ascensions during the festival weekend in April.
“We are excited about the balloons coming to Horseshoe Bay Resort,” Chief Marketing Officer Bryan Woodward said. “The Hot Air balloon community and the pilots really got behind this project and I think families are really going to enjoy what they see when they visit us festival weekend.”
The highlight of the weekend will be the Hot Air Balloons, nearly 20 of them traveling in from across the Midwest and Southwest. Three of the balloons scheduled to attend are Special Shape balloons including the likes of Humpty Dumpty, Buzzy the Bee and CoCo the Clown. Balloons from Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Florida and beyond are coming to Horseshoe Bay Resort for the event. The three-day festival will be based at the Resort Jet Center where the balloonist and festival goers will utilize the 6,000 square foot runway overlooking lake LBJ and the Texas Hill Country.
“You couldn’t ask for a better venue,” Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott General Manager Mark Jeffrey said. “We have plenty of space in a beautiful location and we are ready to welcome our Resort guests to this special venue to celebrate this Festival.
The event kicks off Friday evening with a VIP Sponsor Kick-Off Party starting at 6 p.m. at the Resort Jet Center. The event is open to VIP Festival package guests, event sponsors and Horseshoe Bay Resort Club Members. The event will feature opening ceremonies, a vendor arts and crafts fair, wine tasting from some of the Hill Country’s popular wineries, live music with Moodafaruka, a Texas hill country BBQ, several balloon glows and tethered balloon rides for each guest.
Saturday, April 20th will be a full-day of festival fun at Horseshoe Bay Resort. Gates will open at 5:30 a.m. with a Balloon Glow and Balloon Ascension starting at sunrise (6:30 a.m.). Powered Parachutes will perform afterwards and Helicopter rides will be available throughout the day. A dog walk benefiting local animal shelter will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Kids Festival presenting “Transportation throughout Time” from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Event Lawn at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott.
Gates for the evening session on that Saturday will open at 4 p.m. with wine tasting and a vendor arts and crafts fair. Powered parachutes will perform at 4:30 p.m. with more live music. Sky Divers will kick off the evening around 6:30 p.m. with a Balloon Glow Finale to follow afterwards.
Grammy-nominated Sixpence None the Richer, led by Texas natives Matt Slocum (Dallas) and Leigh Nash (New Braunfels) will perform live in concert after the glow finale.
On Sunday, the Resort Jet Center will be open to VIP Festvial Package Guests, Club Members and those spectators that arranged private balloon rides. The Resort will host a Gospel Brunch at the Resort Jet Center that morning to conclude the three-day Balloon Festival.
