Where is the Balloon Festival Located?
Horseshoe Bay Resort and the Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center are located 45 minutes west of Austin. Take Highway 71 west through Spicewood and past HWY 281 and turn right on FM 2147 towards Horseshoe Bay Resort. You will see signs for Festival Parking. What can I expect at the Balloon Festival?
Early start times and lots of balloons. Hot Air Balloon Festivals start early in the morning and Balloon Glows take place late in the evening. Winds are calmer in the morning and thus balloon pilots have traditionally started early in the morning before sunrise when the winds are calmer. Gates on Saturday morning will open at 5:30 a.m. and we expect the balloons to take flight around 7 a.m. Balloon Glows will take place at night. Balloons Glows take place when balloons simultaneously illuminate during the event-if you have never see a Balloon Glow, you don’t want to miss this opportunity! Make sure to bring your camera!
In addition to the Balloon Glows, the event will featuring wine tastings from some of the best vineyards in the state of Texas. Live music will take place on Friday night (Moodafaruka) Saturday night (Sixpence None the Richer) and the Warrior Gospel Band (Sunday Brunch).
Also-Saturday night will feature Sky Divers and Powered Parachutes performing demonstrations. Many arts and craft vendors from throughout the Texas Hill Country will be on hand making for a great atmosphere all weekend long.
What part of the Festival is Open to the Public?
The Hot Air Balloon Festival will be open to the public on Saturday, April 20th. Gates open at 5:30 a.m. for the morning session. Your day pass is good for both the morning and evening sessions and includes Saturday night’s featured concert by Sixpence None the Richer. Helicopter rides will be available during the day on Saturday on a first-come first-serve basis. Cost is expected to be around $85 per person.
In addition, a charity Dog Walk is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Marriott Event Lawn. A sectioned off area will be available for pets during the morning balloon session at the Festival site. Dogs must remain in the dog park area during the morning session. Cost for the Dog Walk is $10. Portion of the proceeds to benefit the Heart of Texas Lab Rescue and the Highland Lake SPCA. Dogs will not be allowed on Festival Grounds during the evening session on Saturday April 20th.
On Saturday you can also enjoy the Children Festival at the Marriott Event lawn featuring kids activities including a Petting Zoo, Train ride, Moonwalk and many arts and craft activities.

Will food and drinks be available?
Of course! We will have food and drinks available at all three days of the Festival. VIP Festival packages included BBQ buffet dinner on Friday night and Sunday Brunch on April 21st. Make sure you bring cash, but we will have an ATM available on festival grounds and there is an ATM on site at the Marriott property as well.
Can I wait till the last minute to book tickets?
Tickets are on a first-come first serve basis. Tickets have been selling extremely fast (much faster than we expected) online so we advise not to wait or you may see SOLD OUT the week leading up to the event. Make sure you print your tickets and bring them to the Festival to be exchange for your Day Pass.
Will there be seating at the Balloon Festival?
Yes there will be seating, but we encourage you to bring fold able chairs to use throughout the Festival Grounds. Remember, you will be walking on concrete at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center so wear comfortable shoes. Remember no outside food or drink is permitted at Horseshoe Bay Resort. Security will be onsite to ensure this does not happen.
